Schwerin Germany
Schwerin Germany
Willkommen in Deutschland!
Welcome to Germany!
I think that all Baltic cities are influenced by the Hanseatic Federation and looks somehow the same.
To see this beautiful castle make it worth to travel from Warnemnde or Hamburg to Schwerin:

The pedestrian zone and old town invite you for a nice walk.
Its something else than the typical shore excursion destinations.
And some restaurant recommendations as requested:
Kartoffelhaus Nr. 1 = Potato house No. 1
http://www.kartoffelhaus-schwerin.de/
or
Altstadtbrauerei "Zum Stadtkrug" = Old towns brewery "Zum Stadtkrug"
http://www.kartoffelhaus-schwerin.de/
or
Niederlndischer Hof = Dutch Court
http://www.niederlaendischer-hof.de/english/home.html (got also very good recommendations from a German Restaurant Guide without being overpriced...)
or
Weinhaus Uhle = Wine house Uhle
http://www.uhle1751.de/ (got also very good recommendations from a German Restaurant Guide without being overpriced...)
Do not ask me how the food was. I cannot tell as I never be there... but a friend of mine is from Schwerin and I asked him for his recommendations.
Regards,
HeinBloed
One cruiser attracts your attention to following event which is 2009 in Schwerin:
Bundesgartenschau is the Federal Garden Show. Its every two years in another city in Germany. And 2009 in Schwerin:

And this year the concept sounds very great as typical and classical gardens and flowers are in the focus.
